0334. Cornelia Agnes Meader (1845 – 1932)

Cornelia Agnes Meader, daughter of Burton Hathaway Meader (1805-1879) [0197] and Mary Chapin (1812-1846), was born in Easton, NY June 2, 1845 and died in Greenwich, Washington, NY June 13, 1932.

She married:
1)      Frederick VanOrman (1829-1898) of Easton, a carpenter. He served in the cavalry during the Civil War. The couple were separated after the birth of their child.
The child of Cornelia Meader and Frederick VanOrman was:

Lena E. VanOrman, born August 28, 1865 in Easton and died in Greenwich February 9, 1925. September 3, 1889 she married Thomas A. Herrington, born October 2, 1858 and died October 18, 1935.

Their son, Byron Meader Herrington, was born in Easton January 24, 1895 and died January 19, 1978 at Cambridge, NY. April 22, 1914 at North Cambridge, NY he married Irene Jane Kenyon, born September 18, 1894. They had a daughter, Dorothy Lena Herrington, born in 1919.

Byron Herrington graduated from Williams College, studied at Harvard and had an MA degree from New York State Teachers College at Albany. He taught in preparatory and high schools and at the New York State College of Agriculture at Farmingdale. He was Principal in the Greenville and Cambridge school systems. He has published Kenyon and Herrington genealogies. In 1966 he published Ancestry and Descendants of Captain Robert Meader, 1743-1815, and in 1973 he was named an Honorary Director of the Meader Family Association.

2)      Webster Brownell, also a carpenter. They lived at Vly Summit. They had no children. They were buried in the Greenwich Cemetery.
